Lakes Entrance, Victoria, Fishing Report

Lakes Entrance: Anglers are bagging out on King George Whiting around the Barrier landing and the Floating Dragon Jetty. Pippi and sandworm are catching fish. The Post Office Jetty has Mullet, Trevally, Tailor and the “odd” Luderick. The Kalimna rock wall is producing King George Whiting, Tailor, Ling and Trevally. Local prawn and sliver lures are best baits.

Lake Tyers: Bream to 40cm have been landed at the top end of Nowa Nowa Arm, around snags using peeled prawn. The main lake has Flathead and Bream biting on prawn and soft plastics. Flathead are also in the shallows near the Glasshouse. Some Tailor are still around No.2 Jetty.

Mitchell River: Bass have been caught around the Glenaladale Bridge on hard bodied lures. Flathead and Bream are active at Eagle Point with local prawn, crab and sandworm taking fish.

Tambo River: Sardine Flat is producing good size Bream using prawn and sandworm.

Nicholson: The Strait Six has Bream to 40cm with local prawn getting best results.

Metung: King George Whiting are prevalent in Bancroft Bay. Pippi and mussel are best bait. Some Bream have been taken off the Boardwalk.

Paynesville: Flathead are cruising in Rotamah Channel and striking soft plastics. Bream are biting off the jetties

Hollands Landing: Medusa Point has Flathead and Bream waiting to be caught. Try sandworm, prawn and whitebait.

Marlo: Plenty of Bream are in both Rivers with the occasional Estuary Perch amongst the snags. Luderick are at the mouth of Lake Corringle and around the Rock Groynes. Sandworm and local prawn are best bait. Tailor and Salmon are striking lures off the surf. Offshore Gummies and Flathead can be had using squid and metal lures.

Tamboon Inlet: The entrance to Lake Furnell has good size Tailor and Bream biting on soft plastics, prawn and sandworm.

Bemm River: The entrance is still open and fishing is very good. Flathead have been landed on soft plastics, with local prawn accounting for plenty of Bream. The channel has Luderick taking sandworm.

Mallacoota: Both Lakes are producing Bream on local prawn and spider crab. Flathead are more allusive, but patience with soft plastics will reward anglers. The wharf is still good for Luderick.

Omeo High Country: The Gibbo and Mitta Mitta Rivers have Brown Trout in the deeper sections. Worms and “Hoppers” are best bait.
