Lakes Entrance Fishing Report

Lakes Entrance: Large salmon have been landed of the surf using poppers, metal lures and blue bait. Garfish have been caught in the North Arm around the winery. Luderick have been lively under the highway bridge with king george whiting biting around Barrier Landing. Try sandworm and pippi. The town jetties are still good for trevally and mullet around sunset.

Lake Tyers: Bream have been taken in the Main Lake and between Cameron’s Arm and Devils Hole using local prawn. Flathead, tailor, trevally and pinkies are active in the evening around No. 2 Jetty. Prawn and hard bodied lures are producing fish.

Mitchell River: Bream are cruising between grassy banks and the cut with a few at Wy Yung Bridge. Spider crab and prawn are best bait. Estuary perch are still around the Highway Bridge taking hard bodied plastic lures.

Tambo River: Schools of bream are still around the mouth of the river. Peeled prawn has been productive.

Nicholson: A lot of small bream are around but strait six is worth a try for something larger. Sandworm and prawn are catching fish.

Metung: Most bream and and king george whiting being caught have been in Bancroft Bay using peeled prawn and pippi.

Paynesville: Tailor have been taking metal lures around the Country Club Jetty. Flathead are still around Bunga Arm with soft plastics and sandworm being best bait.

Hollands Landing: Bream and flathead have been caught between the Wood Pile and Griffin Point on whitebait and peeled prawn.

Marlo: The fishing platforms on the Snowy River are producing bream, mullet, estuary perch and flathead. Soft plastics, sandworm and peeled prawn are getting good results. The estuary has flathead in the sand flats and tailor in deeper water. The surf has plenty of salmon and flathead taking metal and plastic lures.

Tamboon Inlet: The Peach Tree jetty is providing good fishing with flathead and bream striking soft plastics and prawn.

Bemm River: The lake has flathead and bream biting on sandworm and prawn. Tailor and trevally are in the channel with bait and hard bodied lures getting fish.

Mallacoota: Bream are scattered between both lakes so patience is required. However good size fish have been taken on sandworm and prawn. Estuary perch to 40cm have been landed in the Wallagaraugh River on live prawn. Off shore king fish and gummies are on the go.

Omeo High Country: The Mitta Mitta River has rainbow trout chasing spinners and hoppers.
