Lakes Entrance Fishing Report

Lakes Entrance: Flathead to 1 metre have been taken off the footbridge on soft plastics and blue bait. Good size Luderick have been caught around the Bullock Island bridge and North Arm. King George Whiting are active in the weed beds around Fraser Island. Pippi is best bait. Mullet and Trevally are still around the Post Office jetty.

Lake Tyers: Plenty of Flathead have been landed around No. 2 boat ramp and the top end of Nowa Nowa Arm. However, be aware that fish over 55cm should be released, and Inspectors are around. Schools of Tailor to 50cm are taking metal lures and pilchard. Bream can be had at Long Point and Blackfellows Arm.

Mitchell River: Fishing is lively with Bream biting from the backwater to the bluff. Prawn, sandworm and spider crab are catching fish. Both bridges are producing Estuary Perch on hard bodied lures. Bass are around Lindenow.

Tambo River: Fishing has been slow, but patient anglers have landed Bream at the poplars. Peeled prawn is best bait.

Nicholson: Plenty of small Bream are about, but persistence will yield good results, around Strait Six, on prawn.

Metung: King George Whiting are prevalent around Shaving Point with pippi taking most fish. Bancroft Bay has some Trevally and Bream.

Paynesville: The wharf has plenty of Bream taking sandworm and dough. Large Flathead are around Ocean Grange with the “odd” “Gummie”, also taken, using pilchard and prawn.

Hollands Landing: Tom’s Creek has good size Bream, biting on sandworm and whitebait.

Marlo: The Snowy and Brodribb Rivers have been productive, with Estuary Perch, Bream, Mullet and Flathead providing plenty of sport. Try soft plastics, hard bodied lures, prawn and sandworm. Luderick are still around the Rock Groynes. Tailor and Salmon have been taken in the Estuary on the incoming tide.

Tamboon Inlet: Bream and Flathead are biting between Aeroplane and Peters Rock. Soft plastics and prawn are taking fish.

Bemm River: The lake has plenty of Bream and Flathead “on the go”, using local prawn and sandworm. The channel is still good for Trevally, Tailor and Bream. The surf has some large Salmon.

Mallacoota: Bream are abundant in both lakes, with prawn and sandworm getting good results. A few Flathead are around, striking soft plastics. Luderick are still at the wharf.

Omeo High Country: The Mitta Mitta and Gibbo Rivers are producing Trout after some rain. Spinners and “hoppers” are catching fish.
