Gold Tag Competition

Victorian Fisheries are organising a Golden Tag competition with prizes up to $10,000 to help fire affected communities. Details out soon, watch this space.

Lakes Entrance: Kingfish are around the paddle boat shed chasing surface lures and squid under a float. Apex Park has prawns, pinkies and flathead taking soft plastics. The surf beaches are windy at the moment. Offshore has a heavy sea running off the entrance. Six Mile Reef has pinkies, flathead and gummies closer to the beach.

Lake Tyers: Bream are active at the Glasshoue, for best results use hard body lures. Shallow areas are producing good flathead with soft plastics as preferred bait. From Camerons Arm to Devils Holes for perch chasing hard body lures.

Mitchell River: Best spot for bream is at the cut at Eagle Point and the river mouth. Best results are with prawn.

Tambo River: Best spots for bream being the river mouth, The Snags and Swan Bay. Butcher Creek and Salt Creek are also worth a look. Best bait being prawn and soft plastics.

Nicholson: From the second fence and into Jones Bay for bream, best baits are local prawn and soft plastics.

Metung: Bream are about the town jetties with local prawn as preferred bait. The board walk is also worth a look and up to Chinaman’s Creek.

Paynesville: Sunset Cove for flathead taking prawn. Kingfish and tailor are taking lures. There are still prawns to be had.

Hollands Landing: Seacombe Landing, Woodpile and into Bull Bay and the mouth of Toms Creek for bream, mullet and flathead. Best bait being prawn, worm and soft shell.

Marlo: The surf beach for salmon on pilchards and poppers. The road to Cape Conran is open and offshore is producing good fish. Check weather conditions before heading out. There is bream in the estuary system taking prawn.

Bemm River: Bream are in the lake taking soft plastics, hard body lures and local prawn. The channel for flathead on soft plastics and the lake has plenty of prawns.

Tamboon Inlet: No Report.

Mallacoota: The entrance is still closed but fishing is producing bream, flathead and salmon on the beach. Best results using prawn, soft plastics, hard body lures and local prawns.

Omeo High Country: There is a carp competition on this weekend at Omeo. Not a lot of rain to freshen up the rivers at the moment.
