Gippsland Lakes Fishing Report - January 29, 2015

Lakes Entrance: Trevally have been taken along the Kalimna wall, with Tailor, Salmon, Flathead and a few King George biting around Faser Island. Prawn, pilchard, sandworm and plastic lures are catching fish.

Lake Tyers: Fishing is still productive, with Flathead taking soft plastics along the shoreline, early in the morning. Bream are throughout the Lake. Peeled prawn and pilchard are best bait.

Mitchell River: Bream are being landed between the Butter Factory and Grassy Banks on crab and local prawn. Flathead are around the mouth. Soft plastics and bluebait are getting good results.

Tambo River:Sardine Flat is good for Bream, using local prawn.

Nicholson: Bream are being caught around the Car Bodies and cliffs, on prawn and shrimp.

Metung: Shaving point and the town jetties are producing Bream, Tailor and King George Whiting. Sandworm, prawn and hard bodied lures are best bait.

Paynesville: Plenty of Bream are being taken off the jetties on various bait, Flathead and King George Whiting are around Duck Arm, with some Luderick also biting.

Hollands Landing: Bull Bay has Bream and Flathead prevalent. Prawn and soft plastics have caught fish.

Marlo: The Platforms on both rivers are providing good fish, with Estuary Perch, Flathead, Bream and Mullet being landed on local prawn and hard bodied lures. Offshore, there are lots of bait fish attracting King Fish and Flathead.

Tamboon Inlet: The Entrance Channel has large Flathead “on the go”, using soft plastics and diving lures.

Bemm River: Bream are being caught in the river on hard bodied lures and prawn. Tailor and Flathead are in the Channel, taking metal lures and live bait.

Mallacoota: Bream are biting in the Bottom Lake, near the entrance, on yabbies and plastic lures. The Narrows have good size Flathead, with live bait and soft plastics picking up fish. The wharf has Trevally taking bluebait.

Omeo High Country: The Mitta Mitta River has risen and Trout are being caught at dusk, using fly, crickets and grasshoppers.
