Gippsland Lakes Fishing Report

Lakes Entrance: The jetties are producing Bream and Trevally on local prawn. Salmon and King George Whiting are being caught between Rigby Island and Kalimna, using peeled prawn and pilchard.

Lake Tyers: Anglers are “bagging out” on Bream and Flathead around Fisherman’s Landing Arm, the “Glasshouse” and the channel markers. The early morning is the best time, with peeled prawn and pilchard taking fish.

Mitchell River: A few Bass have been landed at Lindenow on scrub worms and lures. Estuary Perch are around the Lynd Bridge and striking small hard bodied lures. Bream can be had at the mouth of the river.

Tambo River:Bream are biting at Marshall’s Flat. Try prawn and sandworm.

Nicholson: The “car bodies” area and mouth are producing Bream on prawn and shrimp.

Metung: The boardwalk is still good for Flathead and the “odd” King George Whiting. Mussels and prawn are best bait.

Paynesville: Ocean Grange has King George Whiting to 45cm, plus good size Flathead. Soft plastics and peeled prawn are picking up fish. Some Bream and Mullet are in the strait. Wattle Point has some Tailor.

Hollands Landing: Bream are active around Tom’s Creek, using prawn and spider crab.

Marlo: The clearing water in the Snowy has got Bream on the move. Local prawn and sandworm are catching fish. Flathead are in the estuary, with soft plastics taking fish. Fishing is still good in the Brodribb River. Bream, Estuary Perch and Mullet are in abundance. The surf has Salmon and Tailor.

Tamboon Inlet: Bream and Tailor are cruising between the jetty and mud point. Silver lures and prawn are best bait.

Bemm River: Good size Bream re being caught in the lake on local prawn. The surf has Salmon, Trevally and “Gummies”, bluebait is productive.

Mallacoota: The Bottom Lake and Narrows have plenty of Bream biting on yabbies, prawn and sandworm. The Top Lake has Flathead striking soft plastics. Captains Point has Luderick taking weed and Tailor chasing metal lures. Offshore, Marlin and “Gummies” are prevalent.

Omeo High Country: The Gibbo River has trout in the deeper holes. Worms and “hoppers” are worth trying.
