Lakes Entrance Fishing Report April 9, 2015

Gippsland Lakes Fishing Report

Lakes Entrance: From Ferryman’s Jetty to Floating Dragon Jetty for King George and Sliver Whiting, using peeled prawn. Reeves Channel is producing Whiting on peeled prawn. The Surf for Salmon. Offshore at 6 Mile Reef for Snapper, Gummies, Morwong, using squid and pilchards

Lake Tyers: Toorloo Arm and towards Long Point have Bream taking soft plastics and prawn. Flathead are cruising from Mud Island and up the Nowa Nowa Arm towards Trident Arm. Best bait is plastics.

Mitchell River: Two Bells, The Cut and back to Grassy Banks for Bream and Flathead, best baits are soft plastics, mussels, pippis and blue bait.

Tambo River: Flathead and Bream are to be found from Lucerne Patch to the Cliffs, try peeled prawn and worm.

Nicholson: The Club Fishing Comp. on Easter weekend had plenty of small size Bream being taken on prawn. From the Railway Bridge and down towards the mouth were giving the best results.

Metung: Local prawn and pippis are the best bait for Bream and Flathead and worm for Whiting. Try the Boardwalk and Town Jetties.

Paynesville: Town Jetties are producing Bream on prawn, The odd Tailor are still taking metal lures.

Hollands Landing: The mouth of Tom’s Creek, Jones Bay and Cameron Point are best spots, bait of choice is peeled prawn and worm.

Marlo: Plenty of fish were caught in the system, Mullet, Luderick, and Bream on peeled prawn, crab and sandworm.

Tamboon Inlet: From Peach Tree Creek, around the Island and down towards Eagons Bank for Bream and Flathead on peeled prawn. Surf beach for Salmon and Tailor on pilchards, poppers and blue bait.

Bemm River: The lake level is high, the edges of the lake for Bream and Flathead, using local prawn and soft plastics. Trevally and Tailor are about. The surf for Gummies and Trevally.

Mallacoota: Bream and Flathead are in both Lakes taking soft plastics and peeled prawn. The Narrows is aslo worth a look. The surf for Salmon and Tailor, but as a result of recent rains fishing has become patchy.

Omeo High Country: Plenty of Trout are being taken in the Bundarra River, best baits are scrub worms, silver or gold wobblers and nymphs.
