Lakes Entrance Fishing Report

Lakes Entrance: The Post Office Jetty and Ferryman’s for luderick and mullet, bait of choice being worm and prawn. Eastern Beach for salmon up to 3kg taking blue bait. Offshore the weather is not the best but pinkies, nanagi and morwong are taking pilchards and squid.

Lake Tyers: From Snake Bight, Trident Arm and around Cameron’s Arm are best for bream on prawn. Long Point has juvenile bream taking prawn. The surf beach has salmon and tailor on pilchards and blue bait.

Mitchell River: The Highway Bridge has perch and small luderick taking green plastics. Try the butter factory for bream and flathead. Preferred bait being prawn.

Tambo River: From the rough road and all the way up to the highway bridge will be the best spots for bream from 28 – 30 cm taking prawn and worm.

Nicholson: Fresh water coming down the river is pushing fish down towards the mouth. Little cliffs and thumb point are best for bream, try lazer raiders and small slender metal lures.

Metung: The hotel jetty and boardwalk are the best spots for bream. Best results using local prawn, blue bait and vibes.

Paynesville: Lake King, the cut at Eagle point and the straits are still the best spots for mullet on worm. Try the surf for salmon taking pilchards and poppers. Some flounder are about.

Hollands Landing: Plover Point and around the entrance to the strait are best for bream and mullet. Best results using worm. Tom’s Creek and Griffin’s Point are also worth a look at.

Marlo: Plenty of water coming down the Snowy. Try the narrows on the incoming tide for salmon and tailor on pilchard. The surf beach has salmon and tailor as well taking poppers and pilchards.

Tamboon Inlet: Pelican point, old man point and down to the camp site fishing close to the banks for bream and flatties. Best results on prawn, soft plastics and lures.

Bemm River: Pelican Point, Siberia and to the channel mouth opposite refuge hut are the best spots for bream using worm and prawn.

Mallacoota: The water levels in the rivers and lakes are very high. The surf is really wild but as water levels drop the bream will be looking for saltwater and fishng will improve.

Omeo High Country: All rivers are a bit muddy but give them a look. Best result would be using worm. Drifting behind structures is best.
