March Long weekend - 9th till 12th at Forestec near Lakes Entrance.
Lakes Entrance Rotary's "Gippsland Lakes Art on Show" returns again this year on the March long weekend (March 9th to 12th) to showcase the work of local artists as well as artists throughout Australia. The Art Show is held at Forestec, 7km west of Lakes Entrance on the Princess Highway. The show is organised by Rotary in conjunction with the Gunaikurnai Aboriginal Land and Waters Corporation.
It is expected that over a thousand people will visit the art show again this year to see the wide range of artworks and photographs on display and for sale.This year there will be an expansion of artists demonstrating their art as well as conducting workshops. Artists demonstrating their work include talented emu egg carver, Gunaikurnai man Ringo (Adrian) Morgan, well known local artist Jan Long who will be painting art works throughout the show, Vicky Jester President of the East Gippsland Photographic Society who will be holding photography classes and Grattan Mullett, Cultural Hub Manager of GLaWAC who will also be available to discuss the Aboriginal exhibitions.
The opening night Friday 9th will begin at 6:00pm with live music and light refreshments including wine and fruit juice provided. Open night entry is $25 per person with children free. So come along to the opening and wander through the art show sipping wine and listening to the music.
The art show is opened on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm and Monday from 10am to 12.30pm.Entry fee is $5 which includes a catalogue.
