Lakes Entrance Fishing Report

Lakes Entrance: Bunga Beach for salmon taking metal lures. The town jetties for yellow eyed mullet. Ferryman’s Jetty for luderick on worm and weed. Offshore at the Six Mile Reef for snapper, pinkies, morwong and snotty nose trevally. Best result using pilchard and squid.

Lake Tyers: From the Trident Arm and up to Devil’s Hole for bream with worm as preferred bait. There are salmon on the surf beach using metal lures.

Mitchell River: From The Cut and up to Shadoof Lodge for bream on prawn and spider crab. The backwaters are also producing bream, the best bait being soft plastics.

Tambo River: From the Highway Bridge and heading up to the cliffs for bream, using spider crab.

Nicholson: From The Reeds and up to the Strait Six are the best spots for bream, taking lures, worm and cut spider crab.

Metung: The best spots for bream are Chinaman’s Creek, the Boardwalk and the town jetties. For boaties Bancroft Bay have mullet and bream. Best baits are spider crab, worm and prawn.

Paynesville: The town jetties are producing plenty of mullet on worm. At night in the shallow water for flounder. Ocean Grange for salmon taking lures.

Hollands Landing: Tom’s Creek at the wharf towards evening is the best spot for bream with cut crab as preferred bait. The Wood Pile for bream and Blonde Bay for mullet and the odd luderick.

Marlo: Fishing has been quiet, the surf is producing salmon taking lures, pilchard and poppers. Offshore for pinkies, gummies and flathead, best bait is squid.

Tamboon Inlet: The river mouth is the best spot for bream, using cut crab, worm and prawn. The surf has good salmon, bait of choice being blue bait.

Bemm River: Fishing is also quiet at Bemm River, but the lake and the channel could produce bream on worm and soft plastics. Try the surf for salmon on pilchard, poppers and lures.

Mallacoota: Bream and trevally are at the slipway taking blue and white bait. The Top Lake has bream taking yabbies. Luderick at the Fisheries Jetty. The surf for salmon on lures and pilchard.

Omeo High Country: Closed Season.
