Lakes Entrance: Ferrymans Jetty has luderick taking worm and weed. The Post office Jetty for mullet and trevally, with pilchard as the preferred bait. The surf beaches for salmon with lures and pilchards. Offshore at Eight Mile Reef for jackass morwong and 40cm pinkies. Some swordfish, pink ling and blue eyed trevally out wide. Best bait being squid and pilchard.
Lake Tyers: Bream are about at Crystal Bay, Long Point and the Burnt Bridge area. Also try from Cameron’s Arm up to Devils Hole, best bait worm and prawn.
Mitchell River: Grassy Banks to Shadoof Lodge for bream, taking spider crab and prawn. The Highway Bridge and Backwater have plenty of mullet.
Tambo River: From the Lucerne Paddock and Whelans are the best spots for bream and silver trevally, taking worm.
Nicholson: Bream are up and about from the Highway Bridge up to the Car Bodies and the Strait Six. Best results using prawn and worm.
Metung: Fishing is patchy but best spots to try are Box’s Creek, Chinaman’s Creek, The Boardwalk and town jetties for bream on prawn, soft plastics and vibes.
Paynesville: Newlands Arm, the Backwaters and town jetties have mullet. Try using worm. Ocean Grange for salmon and gummies. Baits of choice pilchard and squid.
Hollands Landing: Loch Sport Jetties for mullet taking worm. Cameron’s Point to Storm Point and Blonde Bay for Bream on prawn.
Marlo: Fishing is patchy in the river system. But try the surf for salmon and gummies on the full moon. Pilchard and squid are the best baits. Offshore is also producing good fish.
Tamboon Inlet: 42-45cm bream are at the river mouth and up to Furnell Landing. Best results using worm and cut crab. South West Bay for pinkies and trevally taking white bait. Try the surf for salmon.
Bemm River: Tailor are in the Channel with trolling a lure for best results. Bream are in the lake, with preferred bait being worm, prawn and soft plastics. The surf for salmon on poppers and pilchard.
Mallacoota: Salmon on the surf beach using lures, pilchards and poppers. Fisheries Wharf and Captains Point for luderick on weed. Some trevally are about taking pilchard. The Top and Bottom Lakes for bream using yabbies as bait.
Omeo High Country: Closed Season.
