Lakes Entrance Fishing Report

Lakes Entrance: Town jetties are producing Mackerel, Trevally and Mullet. Bream are about the pylons and boat hulls taking prawn. The Barrier and islands for Whiting on pippi and worm. Offshore for “Gummies”, Pinkies and Morwong. Best results using pilchard and squid.

Lake Tyers: Flathead are in the bottom section of the lake around No. 2 jetty in shallow water taking soft plastics and drifting baits. Bream are also around No. 2 jetty biting on pilchards and prawn allowing the bait to rest on the bottom on the lake.

Mitchell River: “The Cut” and “Two Bells” are best for Bream taking all baits. Also try the Barrier and highway bridge for Tailor on lures. Some Garfish are still about the back water.

Tambo River: The “Three Gums” and through to the river mouth and “The Snags” for Bream, best bait being prawn.

Nicholson: Between the two bridges for Bream, also try from the swimming hole to river mouth. Best bait being live prawn or prawn without shell.

Metung: Pelican Island, Reedy Bay and Fraser Island for Whiting biting on pippi and worm. For Bream, Mullet and Perch try Box’s and Chinaman’s Creek.

Paynesville: All of the town jetties are producing good Bream, best results using worm as a drifting bait. Newlands boat ramp is also worth a look. Surf is a bit quiet.

Hollands Landing: Storm Point to Steel Bay is worth a look for Tailor and Salmon. Trolling with lures for best results. Tom’s Creek and Blonde Bay have Bream taking prawn and spider crab.

Marlo: Lake Corringle and the island are worth a look for Luderick, Mullet, Black Bream, and Perch. The Frenchs Narrows for Bream, Flathead taking prawn as preferred bait. Surf for Salmon on pilchard and popper. Offshore for Flathead, “Gummies” and Pinkies biting on pilchard and squid.

Tamboon Inlet: Fisherman’s Landing and Peach Tree Creek for Bream taking prawn and plastics. Egan’s Bank for Bream, Flathead and Whiting, taking prawn, worm and soft plastics.

Bemm River: The channel for Flathead and Tailor with live prawn as best bait. For Bream try Siberia and The Mahoganys. Soft plastics and prawn for best results.

Mallacoota: Heaps of good Flathead offshore, taking blue bait and pilchards. Bottom Lake in the early morning for Bream and Flathead biting on yabbies and pilchard. Slipway and Fisheries for Luderick. On incoming tide for Trevally and Tailor taking pilchard and prawn.

Omeo High Country: With the warm weather about, fishing is a bit slow, but still producing Trout at Anglers Rest and the Mitta Mitta with grass hopper and worm as preferred bait.
