Lakes Entrance Fishing Report

Lakes Entrance: Trevally are around the town jetties biting on blue bait. Garfish are still up the North Arm and winery area taking worm. Offshore at Six Mile Reef for “Pinkies”, Snapper and Murwong, best bait being squid and pilchard. Continental Shelf for Sword Fish, Blue Eyed Trevally, Ling and Harpooka biting on squid and barracouta.

Lake Tyers: Tailor are cruising around Trident Arm taking lures. Bream are about the channel markers and all the way up to Nowa Nowa with best results using yabbies, prawn and worm. Some Flathead are about on prawn and lures.

Mitchell River: The Barrier, the cut and two bells heading toward the river mouth for Bream. Best bait being spider crab, worm and prawn. The Butter Factory and backwaters for Bream, Perch and Mullet taking worm and peeled prawn.

Tambo River: From the boat ramp at Punthouse Point and heading down to the mouth of the river for Bream on prawn and worm. Also try the snag’s as well.

Nicholson: Between the two bridges for Bream on prawn. The boat ramp and towards the river mouth. Pear Tree to the mouth may have Mullet, Garfish and Tailor taking worm.

Metung: Hotel jetty for Bream, preferred bait being prawn. For the boaties, around Mosquito Point for Salmon chasing lures. Chinaman’s Creek for Bream, Mullet and Perch on prawn and worm.

Paynesville: Town jetties have got good size Bream about, but are a bit elusive, so try a variety of baits – prawn, plastics and bread. Flathead are around Newlands Arm. Surf for “Gummies” on the full moon with squid and pilchard.

Hollands Landing: From Plover Point and into the Straits, the wood pile, Hollands Landing and into Bull Bay for Bream and Flathead using spider crab, white bait and prawn for best results.

Marlo: The fishing is a bit quiet in the river and lake system but the “odd” Bream and Mullet are about with prawn and worm to entice them. Surf beaches for Salmon and Tailor on pilchard, popper and lures. Offshore for King Fish, Flathead and Gummy shark. Best baits being live baits, lures, pilchards and squid.

Tamboon Inlet: The whole lake system is producing good Bream, but the best spot is at the river mouth using worm and prawn as preferred bait. Surf for Salmon around 2.5kg mark taking blue bait and poppers.

Bemm River: Lake is producing Bream with best results using soft plastics, hard body lures and prawn. Salmon are on the beach with blue bait, pilchard and popper as preferred baits.

Mallacoota: Surf beach for Salmon taking pilchard and popper as preferred bait. The Bream are about the Top Lake biting on prawn. The Fisheries and the main wharf for Trevally with cut pilchard as preferred bait. There are some Luderick about but not in big numbers. Offshore has been a bit quiet as well due to rough weather.

Omeo High Country: River levels need to rise but some fish are being caught at the Mitta Mitta and Livingstone Rivers biting on worm.
