Lakes Entrance: The Post Office Jetty and footbridge for trevally, best bait being white bait and pilchard. Bunga and Eastern Beach for salmon on lures and pilchard. Off shore is producing snapper and gummies nearer to the beaches. Best bait squid and pilchard.
Lake Tyers: From the entrance and the island and up past Trident Arm for bream on shrimp, crab and prawn. Toorloo Arm and up to the channel markers for flathead which are moving about. Best results on soft plastics.
Mitchell River: The highway bridge and backwaters for bream, perch and bass. Best bait lures, earthworm and plastics. Bream taking spider crab and prawn. At Angusvale 2 to3 pound trout taking earthworm and celta spinners.
Tambo River: From the powerlines and up to the cliffs are best spots for bream, bait of choice being live shrimp and squid.
Nicholson: For bream head to the second fence and down to Thumb Point. Best results on live shrimp and prawn.
Metung: Chinaman’s Creek, the boardwalk and town jetties for bream and mullet on prawn and worm. Bancroft Bay and islands are worth a look.
Paynesville: Bream are in the straits taking prawn. Luderick and leather jackets are on the banks near Ocean Grange. Best bait weed and worm. The beach at Ocean Grange for seven gill shark on fish fillets.
Hollands Landing: Bream are at the mouth of the straits and in Lakes King, best bait peeled prawn and green lipped mussel. Hollands Landing has bream on shrimp, prawn and worm.
Marlo: The surf for tailor and salmon on pilchard and poppers. Try the narrows and around the islands for bream taking prawn and lures. Try the rivers as well.
Tamboon Inlet: Bream and flathead are in the lake and river taking live shrimp, crab and pilchards. Tailor taking lures
Bemm River: The surf for salmon and tailor on pilchards and poppers. Bream are in the lake and rivers on local prawn and worm.
Mallacoota: The surf for salmon on the outgoing tide on pilchards and poppers. Harrison Channel for bream, some luderick at the fisheries wharf on weed. The top lake and river has bream and flathead. Best bait being plastics and lures.
Omeo High Country: The Mitta Mitta, Livingstone and Victoria rivers for good size trout on spinners and soft plastics.
