Weekly FIshing Report - Lakes Entrance

Lakes Entrance Fishing Report

Lakes Entrance: The Post Office jetty has plenty of mullet taking sandworm. Luderick are at the Kalimna Jetty and at the flat rock taking weed and worm. Silver whiting are around the barrier taking pippies and worm. The surf beaches have salmon on lures. Offshore for pinkies, gummies and good sized flathead on pilchards and squid.

Lake Tyers: Black Fellow Arm and up to Long Point for bream and tailor with best results using worm and prawn. Flathead are at the Glasshouse with drifting bait for best results. Salmon on the surf chasing metal lures.

Mitchell River: Eagle Point, the cut and two bells through to the river mouth for bream taking soft plastics, spider crab and prawn. The Butter Factory has large garfish. Perch are at the highway bridge and Lind Bridge taking worm and vibes.

Tambo River: Punthouse Point and all the way down to the snags have bream with best results using worm, shrimp and live local prawn.

Nicholson: Between the two bridges for bream and perch with best results using spinners and lures. From the pear tree, the swimming hole and to the river mouth bream are taking local prawn. Garfish and mullet may be found on worm.

Metung: The bream competition last weekend produced plenty of bream in Lake King, best bait being prawn and pippies. King fish were at Shaving Point chasing school whiting and lures. The Metung Pub jetty is producing bream with prawn as the preferred bait.

Paynesville: Mc Millan Strait and town jetties are producing good sized bream on prawn. Lake King and Lake Victoria are best for tailor trolling with lures. Bunga Arm for mullet on sandworm.

Hollands Landing: The wood pile and Tom’s Creek for bream, try at night for larger fish, best results using crab. Medusa Point and Griffin Point for flathead on white bait and cut pilchard.

Marlo: Fishing is a bit patchy but you will find good fish around the islands, the mouth of the Brodribb River and French’s Narrows. Best bait is prawn for bream and flathead. The surf for salmon and tailor taking lures. Offshore for king fish, gummies and flathead on pilchard and squid.

Tamboon Inlet: Bream are at the river mouth taking worm and crab. Plenty of prawns are in the lake. The surf is producing salmon on pilchards and poppers. Offshore for king fish on pilchards and squid.

Bemm River: Bream competition was on last week and produced nice bream using plastics, hard bodies and prawn. Surf for salmon and tailor on pilchards and poppers. Try shallow banks for flathead using prawn.

Mallacoota: Offshore for flathead on pilchards. The surf beaches have salmon and tailor on pilchard and lures. Plenty of yellow fin bream taking lures around the shallow edges. Some trevally are around. Luderick are at the Fisheries Wharf and the slipways taking weed.

Omeo High Country: The weather is playing a big part in finding trout, but the top end of the Mitta Mitta is the best spot. Best bait being grass hoppers.
