Lakes Entrance: The Barrier Landing is producing King George Whiting on sandworm. Tailor are around the Entrance and striking silver lures. Trevally and the “odd” Pinkie have been caught around the Footbridge. Mullet are still around the town jetties, with “Gars” available in North Arm. Salmon to 3kg have been taken at Lake Bunga.
Lake Tyers: Cooler water has slowed fishing down, but Flathead have been landed around Trident Arm, using soft plastics and pilchard. Bream are in Toorloo Arm and the main channel, with peeled prawn picking up fish. Some Tailor are still around No.2 Jetty.
Mitchell River: Bream are active from the Highway Bridge to Shadoof Lodge. Local prawn is best bait. Estuary Perch are biting around Wy Yung Bridge, on hard bodied lures.
Tambo River: The mouth of the river has been the most productive, using live prawn for Bream.
Nicholson: Flathead are biting between the car bodies and tyres, with the occasional Bream taken.
Metung: Plenty of King George and Sand Whiting have been hooked off the Boardwalk, near the Yacht Club. Sandworm accounted for most fish. A few Bream were also caught.
Paynesville: Bream are cruising in the Strait around the Marina, with mussel and bread catching fish. Picnic Arm has Tailor and Flathead.
Hollands Landing: Toms Creek is fishing well, with some large Bream taken on spider crab and fresh prawn.
Marlo: The entrance of the Snowy River is producing good sport, with Salmon and Tailor chasing silver lures and pilchard. The Snowy also has Estuary Perch around the snags, taking live prawn and diving lures. Frenchs Narrows has Bream, Mullet, Luderick and the occasional Flathead. Offshore Flathead and “Gummies” are available.
Tamboon Inlet: The Cann River mouth is good for Flathead, using soft plastics and diving lures. Pelican Point has Bream taking fresh prawn.
Bemm River: Bream and Flathead are “on the go” in the lake, using local prawn and soft plastics. Large Tailor have been landed in the channel, on metal lures and fish fillets. The surf has Salmon chasing silver lures.
Mallacoota: Estuary Perch are prevalent in the Wallagaraugh River, with live prawn and deep diving lures picking up fish. The narrows and both Lakes have schools of Bream and Flathead, partial to local prawn, yabbies and soft plastics. Large Flathead are offshore.
Omeo High Country: The Mitta Mitta River has Trout in the deeper holes. Try spinners and crickets.
