Lakes Entrance Fishing Report

Lakes Entrance: Rigby and Hopetoun Channels are producing King George Whiting, Flathead and Salmon on Peeled Prawn and Pilchard. “Gars” are still in North Arm, around the Winery Jetty. Local Jetties are good for Mullet, using Sandworm. Eastern Beach has Salmon taking blue bait and “Poppers”

Lake Tyers: Large Flathead have been caught between Trident Arm and Solitude Bay on soft plastics and Prawn. Bream are biting in Blackfellows Arm and the Main Lake. Peeled prawn and sandworm are the best bait. A few Tailor and “Pinkies” have been landed around No 2 Jetty after sunset.

Mitchell River: Grassy Banks and the Backwater have Bream partial to peeled prawn. The “odd” flathead has been taken around the cut on soft plastics.

Tambo River: Fishing has been patchy but some good size Bream are cruising around the Polars area, try prawn and shrimp. A few Flathead are around the Johnsonville boat ramp.

Nicholson: Bream are active between the swimming hole and thumb point. Prawn and sandworm are picking up fish.

Metung: Flathead and Bream have been landed in Bancroft Bay on Pilchard and peeled prawns. King George Whiting are between the jetty and shaving point.

Paynesville: The strait has Bream biting on local prawn. Dawson Cove is good for the “Odd” Flathead using soft plastics. Lake King has large Tailor and a few Trevally striking silver lures.

Hollands Landing: Jones Bay is providing some good fishing with Bream, Flathead and Mullet taking Sandworm and peeled prawn.

Marlo: The sand flats in the Estuary are the best spot for Flathead using soft plastics and local prawn. The fishing platforms on both rivers are producing Bream and some estuary perch, on live prawn and hard bodied lures. The surf has salmon and Tailor chasing metal lures.

Tamboon Inlet: Anglers are hooking into bream around the Peach Tree Creek camping ground. Best bait is fresh prawn.

Bemm River: Tailor are being caught in the channel on fish fillets and metal lures. Plenty of Bream and Flathead are in the lake with local prawn and hard bodied lures catching fish.

Mallacoota: Both lakes are holding plenty of bream with prawn and yabbies taking fish. The rivers above Gipsy Point have estuary perch perch and bream attacking hard bodied lures. Offshore, flathead and swordfish are about.

Omeo High Country: “Hoppers” and blade lures are picking up Trout in the Gibbo and Mitta Mitta Rivers.
