Lakes Entrance: From the Highway Bridge and heading up the North Arm is the best spot for bream with prawn as preferred bait. The Post Office Jetty for mullet taking pipis. Surf beaches for salmon. Offshore at six mile reef for good sized snapper, leather jacket and trevally.
Lake Tyers: Devil’s Hole for bream. Tailor are cruising around Mill Point taking lures. Tailor is also at the floating jetty taking white bait. Long Point is producing bream and flathead with peeled prawn and pilchards being the best baits.
Mitchell River: The best spot for bream being the Grassy Banks, Eagle Point, The Cut and the river mouth. Bait of choice being prawn, cut crab and soft plastics.
Tambo River: Mid morning around the Highway Bridge for bream and then late afternoon from Howitts Flat and down to the river mouth. Best results using pipis, shrimp and prawn.
Nicholson: Bream are about the Little Cliffs and all the way down to Thumb Point and the river mouth. Bait of choice being prawn and shrimp.
Metung: Whiting are to be had at Shaving Point with pipis as preferred bait. Try Chinaman’s Creek and Box’s Creek for bream. Give the town jetties a try for bream on vibes.
Paynesville: Best spot for bream is at the Mitchell River. Try the town jetties and the strait for bream and mullet. Ocean Grange surf beach for salmon with the full moon may produce gummies.
Hollands Landing: Tom’s Creek river mouth for bream and perch, worm being bait of choice. Bull Bay and Hollands Landing are also worth a look.
Marlo: The rivers and estuary system are producing good bream, mullet, luderick and estuary perch. The surf beaches for salmon and offshore for flathead and gummie shark.
Bemm River: The river and lake for bream taking worm, local prawn and soft plastics. The surf for salmon with pilchards and poppers. Some luderick are also to be had.
Tamboon Inlet: Pinkies and trevally are cruising around the Football ground, all good sized fish. Lake Furnell is the best place for bream taking live shrimp. The surf for salmon.
Mallacoota: Harrison Channel is producing good luderick and bream using weed, prawn, worm and lures. Best spot for flathead is at The Narrows taking pilchard. The surf beach for salmon.
Omeo High Country: Angler’s Rest, the Mitta Mitta, Livingstone Creek and the Bondarra River are good spots for trout at the moment. Best results on worm, plastics and lures.
