Lakes Entrance Fishing Report

Lakes Entrance: Try the footbridge for trevally using small pieces of blue bait or pilchard. The town jetties for mullet on worm. Bullock Island has salmon on metal lures. Nungurner Jetty area for silver whiting on mussel and worm. The surf for salmon on lures, pilchard and poppers. Offshore at Six Mile Reef for snapper, barracouta, gummies and school shark, taking pilchard and squid.

Lake Tyers: Bream are still about the lake system, best to try Mill Point, using worm and prawn. Blackfellows Arm and Long Point are also worth a try. Around the islands in the shallows for flathead on prawn, soft plastics and lures. The surf for salmon.

Mitchell River: Bream are at the river mouth, Two Bells and The Bluff. Wyung Bridge for perch. Bass at Lindenow. Best results using cut crab, worm, lures and plastics.

Tambo River: Clues Bluff, Marshalls Flat and Howletts Flats are the best spots to try for bream with worm and local prawn as preferred baits.

Nicholson: Between the two bridges and down at the river mouth for bream. The Tyres and up to the cliffs are worth a try with prawn being the best bait.

Metung: From Chinaman’s Creek and along the Boardwalk are best for bream, taking fresh local prawn. Also from Box’s Creek to Boole Poole Peninsula and Bonran point for the boaties, trolling for salmon on metal lures.

Paynesville: The Straight and town jetties are good spots for bream and mullet, taking worm and prawn. The Resides Jetty on Raymond Island for flathead, garfish and bream on worm and prawn. The surf for salmon.

Hollands Landing: Blonde Bay for bream, mullet and flathead. Best bait soft shell, worm and peeled prawn. The Bluff and jetties are also good for mullet and flathead in the shallows.

Marlo: The Brodribb River system is producing bream, estuary perch and luderick on worm. The Snowy River is also fishing well. The surf for salmon and tailor on pilchard and poppers. Offshore is producing gummies and snapper using pilchard and squid.

Tamboon Inlet: The river mouth for bream, taking peeled prawn and worm. Eagans Bank for flathead, taking white bait. The surf for salmon using silver lures and white bait. There are still some prawns to be had.

Bemm River: Bream are still in the lakes taking prawn. Tailor are still cruising the channel and chasing lures. The entrance is still closed. The surf for trevally and salmon with blue bait and poppers as best bait.

Mallacoota: Fisheries Wharf for flathead, luderick and trevally on pilchard. Also try Harrison’s Channel. Whiting and bream are at the entrance, taking prawn. The surf for salmon on pilchard and poppers.

Omeo High Country: The rains came and as a result all the rivers are producing trout with worm as preferred bait.
