Lakes Entrance: Bullock Island has mackerel taking small pieces of prawn. Whiting are at the front of Fraser Island and the Barrier, around 38cm, taking worm. Off shore at Six Mile and Pipeline for snapper and flathead, best bait being squid and pilchards. Gummies are closer to the beach.
Lake Tyers: Bream are about the Glasshouse and channel markers taking prawn and yabbies. Tailor are also cruising about in the early morning and at dusk chasing prawn. Try the power lines and Mill Point.
Mitchell River: Bream are about the backwater and Eastwood Bridge taking spider crab and prawn. The Grassy Banks and down to the cut for bream up to 40cm taking mussels and prawn as preferred bait.
Tambo River: From the highway bridge and up to the Lucerne Paddock for bream on local prawn and worm. The Three Gums and towards the river mouth also has bream taking prawn and yabbies.
Nicholson: Best spots to try for bream is around the swimming hole and Pear Tree on local prawn. Also try the highway bridge and rail bridge for bream on live drifting bait.
Metung: At the moment whiting are on the move around Shaving Point. They are chasing worm as preferred bait.
Paynesville: Flathead are cruising at Newlands Arm chasing prawn. Juvenile king fish are around chasing lures for best results. Try the strait for mullet.
Hollands Landing: From Seacombe Landing, the Wood Pile and Hollands Landing for bream, mullet and flathead. Best results on white bait, prawn and sandworm.
Marlo: Bream are cruising around the first island, there may be luderick as well, taking prawn. From the town jetty towards Frenchs Narrows for flathead taking lures. Salmon and tailor are around the entrance taking lures. Try the surf for salmon and tailor.
Bemm River: Bream are out and about in the channel and lake, best bait being frozen local prawn. The surf beach is producing salmon on pilchards and poppers. Some flathead is about as well.
Tamboon Inlet: Best spot for bream is at the western side of the bay with worm and prawn as preferred bait. From the river to Furnell Landing for bream and flathead taking worm and prawn.
Mallacoota: Bottom lake for flathead chasing lures. The surf beach for salmon around 3kg on pilchards and poppers. The top lake for bream on yabbies and pilchards.
Omeo High Country: Most rivers are down on water. The Mitta Mitta is the best for trout at the time being with grass hoppers as preferred bait.
