Lakes Entrance Fishing Report

Lakes Entrance: Myer Street Jetty has trevally taking blue bait, plenty of sand crabs about as well. King george whiting are still about the Barrier and down to Nungurner. Trolling with lures around Kalimna Jetty for juvenile salmon on the incoming tide. Off shore for pinkies with gummies closer to the beach.

Lake Tyers: On low wind days tailor are working the surface, try lures and bait. Bream are about Blackfellow’s Arm, in deeper water during the day and the shallows around dusk. Best bait being prawn. Iron Bark Point is also worth a try.

Mitchell River: The Cut, Eagle Point and into Jones Bay for bream on prawn and spider crab. Try plastics at the cut. The Highway bridge and to the backwaters for bream on mussels and prawn.

Tambo River: From Rough Road and down to the river mouth for bream on prawn.

Nicholson: Try the river mouth for bream using a float or drifting prawn, also try the swimming hole, the little cliffs and pear tree on local prawn

Metung: Flathead are around the Bury Point shoreline and the cove at Chinaman’s Creek. Best results on fresh prawn. Nungurner Jetty area for king george whiting on worm and pippies.

Paynesville: Best spot for flathead is at Sunset Cove using soft plastic lures. The strait has mullet taking worm.

Hollands Landing: Lake Victoria is producing bream and flathead. Best results using vibes, soft plastics and prawn.

Marlo: Bream and luderick are in the Snowy and Brodribb rivers on worm and prawn. The sand flats for flathead taking lures. Salmon and tailor are coming in the entrance chasing lures. The surf for salmon and tailor.

Bemm River: The entrance is closed. Lake and channel for bream taking local prawn. Trolling for tailor on lures also in the channel. The surf for salmon on pilchard and poppers.

Tamboon Inlet: Bream are at Western Bay taking fresh prawn. Egan’s Bank and the river mouth for bream and flathead on fresh prawn. The surf for salmon taking blue bait and lures.

Mallacoota: The surf for salmon on pilchards and poppers. Flathead are in the bottom lake taking lures. Harrison’s Channel for luderick on weed. The top lake has bream taking prawn.

Omeo High Country: There has been little rain in the rivers. Angler’s Rest and the Mitta Mitta are good spots to try. Best bait being earthworm, hoppers and fly patterns for best results.
