Lakes Entrance Fishing Report

Lakes Entrance: The Post Office Jetty for trevally on fresh pilchard. King George whiting are around The Barrier and Fraser Island on pipis and worm. On the incoming tide for bay trout at the Kalimna Jetty taking fresh pilchard. Try the surf for salmon. Offshore at Six Mile Reef for pinkies. Good size flathead and gummies closer to shore. Water temp is 22 degrees. Also some marlin are around the oil rigs.

Lake Tyers: The main lake for tailor on metal lures. Towards dusk for bream and flathead on prawn, pilchard and worm. The Nowa Nowa Arm and the channel markers are also worth a try.

Mitchell River: Bream at Grassy Banks, Eagle Point and to the river mouth on prawn and soft shell. The Backwater has bream around the 35-38cm size taking prawn and mussel. The river mouth for flathead taking soft plastics.

Tambo River: From Punthouse Point and down towards the mouth of the river and around the Snags are the best spots for bream with yabbies as preferred bait.

Nicholson: Bream are around the two bridges with best results using prawn and worm as bait.

Metung: The town jetties and the Boardwalk are producing flathead with fresh pilchard as bait.

Paynesville: The Strait is still producing mullet on worm. Kingfish and flathead are still cruising around Newlands Arm and Duck Arm, taking prawn and worm.

Hollands Landing: Try the Strait and Tom’s Creek towards dusk for bream. The shallows for flathead. The surf for gummies, flathead and salmon on poppers, blue bait or pilchard.

Marlo: The Marlo Jetty is best for bream and mullet, best bait being worm. Flathead around The Narrows on prawn. The surf for salmon on pilchard and poppers. Also try lures. Offshore for a mixed bag.

Bemm River: The surf for salmon on pilchard, poppers and lures. The channel is producing big tailor. Trolling with lures for best results.

Tamboon Inlet: Pelican Point is best for flathead taking pilchard and prawn. Aeroplane Rock has bass taking worm and live prawn. The surf for salmon on poppers and blue bait.

Mallacoota: The Bottom Lake for flathead around the 82cm size on blades. The odd bream are about. The surf beach is producing salmon, tailor and gummies. Offshore for tiger flathead. Gummies and sand flathead are closer to shore.

Omeo High Country: With the dry conditions try all the rivers for trout. Best results on soft plastics, floating worm, metal lures and hoppers, also try fly patterns.
