Lakes Entrance Fishing Report

Self-isolation can be a thing of beauty. Alone on a beach with the rod, or kayaking the middle of a lake ... how can this be so bad. So why don't you get in your car, hit the road, and head for the Gippsland Lakes ... and leave the madness behind.

Lakes Entrance: Surf beaches for gummies and salmon on pilchards and squid. Some kingfish are at the bottom end of the Cunninghame Arm on squid. Fraser Island for King George whiting and sand whiting on pipi. Offshore at Six Mile Reef for pinkies, morwong and leather jacket. Gummies are closer to the beach.

Lake Tyers: Bream are active in the main lake, at the channel markers and Mill Point. Best results on local prawn. The Glass House for flatties from the shallow banks with pilchards.

Mitchell River: Bream are around the Grassy Banks and down to the mouth of the river. Best results on shrimp, prawn and spider crab.

Tambo River: Try for bream at the power lines, Punt House Point and heading to the Three Gums and river mouth. Best baits are soft plastics and live shrimp.

Nicholson: Between the two bridges, the Little Cliffs and down to the river mouth are the best spots for bream.Baits to useare local prawn and live shrimp.

Metung: Prawns are about in Lake King and the boardwalk. Chinamans Creek and Box’s Creek for perch, bream and mullet on worm, prawn and plastics.

Paynesville: Process Jetty for kingfish taking live bait. Tailor are also about with small lures for best results.

Hollands Landing: Seacombe Landing, Woodpile and Hollands Landing for bream.Prawns at Point Wilson, flatties are about early morning and dusk. Go Fishing Comp. has been cancelled for this weekend.

Marlo: Some bream are about the river system. Offshore is producing big flathead and good size gummy shark on pilchards and squid.

Bemm River: Prawns are still about.The river and lake system for bream taking prawn. Some tailor are in the channel, taking soft plastics.

Tamboon Inlet: Bream are up at the river mouth on local prawn. Pelican Point for flatties on soft plastics and pilchards. Aeroplane Rocks for pinkies taking pilchards.

Mallacoota: Bastion Point and Fisherman’s Wharffor trevally taking pilchards and white bait for best results.

Omeo High Country: Best spot for trout now is the Mitta Mitta. Baits are worm and hoppers.
