Lakes Entrance Fishing Report

Lakes Entrance: The Footbridge, Myer Street and the Post office jetties for Trevally biting on blue bait and pilchards. Garfish are taking worm. Surf beaches for Salmon on lures, pilchards and poppers. Offshore, “Pinkies”, Morwong, Blue Eyed Trevally, Sword Fish and Albacore Tuna at Six Mile Reef taking yellow tail, squid and pilchards at depths around 400 metres.

Lake Tyers: Fishing really well from Devil’s Hole to the entrance for Bream on prawn and worm. Glasshouse for Flathead on blue bait. Burnt Bridge and Blackfellow’s Arm for Bream, Tailor and Leather Jackets taking lures. Fish are a plenty.

Mitchell River: The river mouth, two bells and the cliffs for Bream on spider crab, prawn and worm. At dusk under the highway bridge for Perch taking lures.

Tambo River: Power lines for Flathead on live or frozen prawn. Bream are around from Bennet’s Brook, rough road to punt-house on live prawn.

Nicholson: Between the two bridges are best for Bream taking live prawn. Also try the little cliffs and river mouth on prawn.

Metung: The boardwalk and Chinamen’s Creek for Bream and Mullet on spider crab, worm and live prawn towards dusk. Reeve Channel on the eastern side of Bell’s Point for Bream and Flathead in shallow waters.

Paynesville: Eagle Point Bay for Tailor chasing lures, also try town jetties. Flathead cruising in and around Newlands Arm with live or frozen prawn as best bait.

Hollands Landing: The Straits for Bream, also try the wood pile. Tom’s Creek and Blonde Bay for Flathead and Bream using white bait and prawn for best results.

Marlo: Plenty of Mullet taking worm. Bream are about but you need to work for them. Surf for Salmon on pilchards and poppers. Offshore is providing a good variety of fish from Board Billed Marlin, Flathead, “Pinkies” and Shark. Best bait being pilchard, yellow tail and squid.

Tamboon Inlet: River mouth for Bream taking prawn and worm. Catching Flathead, Trevally and “Pinkies” near the entrance also known as the “football ground”. Best bait being pilchard and blue bait. Surf for Salmon on pilchard and popper.

Bemm River: Surf for Trevally and Salmon on blue bait and poppers. Bream, the “odd” Flathead and Tailor are in the system. Best bait being blue bait, poppers and peeled prawn.

Mallacoota: Offshore for King Fish weighing in at around 15lb. Swordfish and Marlin chasing lures. Fisheries jetty and Harrison Channel for Luderick on weed. Fish are heading up stream toward the Top Lake chasing prawn and plastics.

Omeo High Country: Rain has returned to the fill up rivers so fishing in all rivers will improve. Worm and lures for best results.
