Gippsland Lakes Fishing Report

Lakes Entrance: With the weather being windy fishing will be a bit uncomfortable. The upper reaches of the North Arm are producing good bream and flathead taking fresh prawn. The town jetties may be worth a try for luderick on local weed. Off shore is a bit rough at the moment.

Lake Tyers: Bream and flathead are out and about. Best spots are Toorloo Arm and up to Crystal Bay. Best bait being fresh prawn. Trident Arm and down to the islands is good for flathead and bream also on fresh prawn. Birds are working the surf for bait fish so salmon and tailor are about.

Mitchell River: From Shadoof Lodge and down to the mouth of the river is best for bream taking fresh prawn.

Tambo River: From the mouth of the river and up to the power lines for bream, bait of choice being fresh prawn.

Nicholson: Try Thumb Point and up to Pear Tree for bream on fresh prawn.

Metung: The town jetties, marina and boardwalk down to Chinaman’s Creek are good for bream, mullet and estuary perch on prawn and worm.

Paynesville: Mc Millan Strait for bream taking fresh prawn. The town jetties are also a chance. Dolphins are out chasing mullet so try sand worm as bait of choice.

Hollands Landing: The landing, Medusa Point and Bull Bay towards the mouth of Toms Creek is good for bream taking hard body lures, soft plastics and prawn.

Marlo: With the wild and windy weather fishing is a bit patchy. Some fish are about, the odd bream, mullet and luderick are taking prawn and worm. Try sheltered areas in the river system.

Tamboon Inlet: Pelican Point, Old Man Point and down to shallow lagoon is good for bream, flathead and mullet on prawn and worm. Weather is a bit rough so try sheltered spots.

Bemm River: Fishing is a bit quiet, but sheltered areas and river mouths are worth a try. Try storm refuge hut and the entrance channel for bream and flathead in the shallow water.

Mallacoota: Try the top and bottom lakes for bream taking prawn and yabbies. The Genoa and Wallagaraugh Rivers have bream. Try the Betka River for bream and luderick taking bass yabbies. Flathead are in the narrows on live poddy mullet.

Omeo High Country: The Mitta Mitta has produced trout taking worm. Taylors Crossing is also fishing well. The junction where the three rivers meet at Anglers Rest is worth a try.
