Lakes Entrance: Try Fraser Island and Nungurner for whiting. The town jetties for a mixed bag, trevally, tailor, mullet, black bream, silver and king george whiting. Best results on prawn and pippies. Off shore snapper to 40cm are at 6 and 8 mile reefs, flatties are in closer. Best bait is pilchards.
Lake Tyers: Bream and flathead are about at Trident Arm. Some tailor have been taking metal lures in the bottom lake. Try late morning in shallow areas for bream and flathead. Best bait being prawn and plastics. High tide is good for salmon on the surf.
Mitchell River: Bream are out and about from the bluff to the cut and down toward the two bells. To the right of the ramp the holding jetty is worth a try for bream and mullet. Best bait being prawn and worm.
Tambo River: From the mouth of the river and towards the poplars is producing bream on prawn.
Nicholson: Bream are returning up the river from thumb point and the little cliffs. Pear tree also worth a try. Best bait is prawn.
Metung: Lake King Jetty, the Marina and up to Chinaman’s Creek are best for bream. Bait of choice being prawn.
Paynesville: Bream are at the town jetties taking prawn. Sea mullet or potty mullet are being are being caught, best method is jagging them. Luderick are also about. Leather jackets are taking prawn or berley with potato.
Hollands Landing: Blonde Bay, red bluff and down to storm point for bream, mullet, flathead and the odd luderick. Best bait soft shell, prawn and worm.
Marlo: Bream are up in the lake system from Frenchs Narrows to Lake Corringle and backwaters. Best bait prawn and worm. Salmon and tailor are around the entrance. Surf beaches for salmon and tailor on poppers and pilchards. Off shore for pinky snapper, gummies and flathead taking blue bait and squid.
Tamboon Inlet: From Pelican Point and the camp site for bream and flatties on prawn and worm. Try shallow lagoon as well. The surf has salmon and tailor on poppers and blue bait.
Bemm River: The lake system has dirty water in it but there are some bream taking peeled prawn. The surf beach is producing salmon and tailor on poppers, pilchard and blue bait.
Mallacoota: Salmon have been caught at the new break water. Trevally at the main and fisheries jetties, bream in the top lake taking prawn. Flathead are about in the narrows. Try the surf beach for salmon, tailor and yellow fin. Best results are on poppers and pilchards.
Omeo High Country: The rivers are steadily rising, some fish are about. Try floating worm and centa lures. Best results are on gold or bronze coloured wing.
