Gippsland Lakes Fishing Report -October 3, 2014
Lakes Entrance:
Salmon and Striped Tuna are being caught near the Entrance on pilchard.
Some Trevally have been landed off the town jetties and Kalimna Jetty on metal lures and prawn.
The beach is still producing Salmon on silver lures and pilchard.
Lake Tyers: Bream are biting in the “Glasshouse” area at high tide, on peeled prawn.
Both Arms have Tailor taking metal lures. Some King George Whiting were taken off No.2 Jetty at night, using sandworm.
Mitchell River: Good size Trout are still being caught on scrub worm around Lindenow.
Bream are active between “Grassy Banks” and the mouth. Crab and prawn are best bait. Estuary Perch are still around the Highway Bridge, taking vibes and squidgees.
Tambo River:Bream are taking local prawn and sandworm from Rough Road to Sandy’s Bluff.
Nicholson: The River mouth to “Pear Tree” is the best area for Bream. Sandworm and prawn are producing fish.
Metung: Bream, Trevally and Mullet are biting off Lake King Jetty and the “Boardwalk”. Best bait is pippi, prawn and sliver lures.
Paynesville: Plenty of Tailor are “on the go” in Newlands Arm and the Raymond Island Jetty.
The King Street Boat Ramp has Bream taking prawn.
A few Salmon and Mullet have been landed on sandworm and lures.
Hollands Landing: Bream and Mullet are being caught between Jones and Bull Bay. Prawn and sandworm are best bait.
Marlo: Estuary Perch, Bream, Luderick and Mullet are biting in both Rivers, on sandworm and plastic lures.
The beach has Salmon and Tailor. Offshore there is Gummies and Flathead.
Tamboon Inlet: Fishermans Landing has schools of Bream and Mullet. Best bait is sandworm and prawn.
Bemm River: Trevally are still in the Channel. The Lake has good size Bream taking prawn and sandworm.
Silver lures are producing Salmon off the surf.
Mallacoota: The Top Lake is good for Bream with most over 40cm. Plenty of Tailor and Flathead have been landed on prawn and hard bodied lures.
