Lakes Entrance: The town jetties have Silver Trevally on pilchard. Some Luderick are about taking local weed. The surf beaches for Salmon on lures and pilchard. Offshore they have been getting Flathead, Morwong, Snapper and Gummies, best bait is pilchard and squid.
Lake Tyers: Mill Point, Blackfellows Arm and up to Long Point are the best spots for Flathead on prawn and soft plastics. From Black Snake Bight and down towards the islands for Bream on prawn. The surf beach for Salmon taking lures.
Mitchell River: From Eagle Point and down to The Cut, heading towards the river mouth for Bream. Best bait being spider crab, worm and vibes.
Tambo River: Rough Road, Clues Bluff and towards Marshalls Flats seem to be the best spots for Bream, taking prawn and worm. Also give the snags a try.
Nicholson: Downstream from the jetties and heading toward the river mouth, small Bream have been taking prawn.
Metung: Chinamans Creek and the Boardwalk for Bream on spider crab and local prawn. Best at night in shallow water. The Yacht Club on Bancroft Bay for Mullet and Bream, best bait local prawn and worm.
Paynesville: The best spots for Bream and Mullet are at the Strait and local jetties. Try using prawn and worm. Ocean Grove for Salmon on pilchard and poppers. Next full moon should be good for Gummies on squid.
Hollands Landing: From The Wood Pile and Spoon Bay to Red Bluff and the White Cliffs for Bream and tailor in deeper water. Best baits are worm, peeled prawn and silver lures.
Marlo: The Brodribb River for Bream, Mullet and Perch. The rock groynes for Luderick and Dusky Flathead. Salmon and Tailor in French’s Narrows in the shallows. Best baits would be crab, soft shell, worm and lures. The surf for Salmon and Tailor on pilchard and poppers. Offshore for Flathead, Gummies and Kingfish at Marlo Reef, taking pilchard and squid.
Tamboon Inlet: Fresh prawn and worm for Mullet and Tailor at Fishermans Landing. Furnell Landing for Dusky Flathead, Bream, Luderick and Perch on imitation prawn, lures and plastics.
Bemm River: Bream are in the lake taking peeled prawn and plastics. The surf for Salmon and Tailor on silver metal lures. And there is the “odd” Luderick in the Channel taking worm.
Mallacoota: Wild weather on the surf, but Salmon are taking blue bait. The Bream Competition came in with good results, using lures. Fisheries Jetty for Trevally taking prawn and blue bait. Tailor and small Luderick at the Slipways on silver lures.
Omeo High Country: The Mitta Mitta River, Anglers Rest and Dartmouth Dam are producing some good size Brown Trout around 1.2kg. Some larger Rainbow Trout are also being caught on metal lures and soft plastics.
