Weekly Fishing Report Lakes Entrance

Lakes Entrance Fishing Report

Lakes Entrance: Bunga beach for good sized Salmon on pilchards and poppers. The Barrier and Nungurner area are still producing whiting taking pippies. Footbridge and town jetties for trevally, tailor, whiting and yellow eyed mullet taking worm and pilchards. Off shore for pinkies and gummies close to the beach, pilchard and squid being best baits.

Lake Tyers: Bream have returned and are taking peeled prawn. Flatties are in the bottom lake on lures mainly around shallow banks. An incoming tide at the entrance for mullet

Mitchell River: Bream at Eagle Point, and the Backwater taking prawn and soft plastics, perch around the highway bridge, taking hard bodied lures. Bass at the Barrier and heading upstream, best results using hard bodied lures.

Tambo River: From the boat ramp and right down to River Mouth for bream, best bait local shelled prawn, worm and shrimp.

Nicholson: From the highway bridge and to the river mouth for bream, best baits being local peeled prawn, worm and shrimp

Metung: The shallow banks in Lake King for flatties. Boardwalk to Chinaman’s Creek for bream, whiting in Lake King, Mud Hole and the Southern Channel to Romley Point, best bait peeled prawn and pippies.

Paynesville: Town jetties are producing pinkie snapper & luderick, best baits being prawn and weed. Ocean Grange for gummies on pilchards and squid. A white pointer shark was also caught and released.

Hollands Landing: Tom’s Creek, Blonde Bay, the Woodpile and into Lake Victoria for bream, mullet and flatties, best results using lures, worm, prawn and soft plastics.

Marlo: Fishing is excellent with fish everywhere. Surf for salmon, gummies and bronze whalers. Off shore for gummies, flatties and pinkies. Plenty of bream, luderick, perch, mullet and yellow eyed mullet best bait being pilchards, poppers, squid, worm, prawn and lures.

Tamboon Inlet: Fishing is improving with plenty bream 48cm – 50cm, best bait hard bodied lures in the river. In the lake bream are taking prawn.

Bemm River: Flathead and tailor in the channel, best results using soft plastics, bream taking local prawn and hard bodies lures. Surf for salmon up to 2.5kg on blue bait and poppers.

Mallacoota: Surf for salmon on pilchards and poppers. Luderick at Fisheries on weed, flatties chasing lures. Bream in the Bottom Lake on yabbies and prawn. Top Lake for bream also in Harrison Channel taking yabbies and prawn. River for flatties on live potty mullet, perch taking lures.

Omeo High Country: Livingstone, Mitta Mitta, Big River and Anglers Rest are all good for trout, with best results on earth worm, lures, celta spinners and try fly patterns.
